Contractor Mansell (Balfour Beatty) engaged the services of Receptek in one of the most challenging but exciting projects for the Great Ormond Street Hospital main reception. However this is no ordinary reception desk. It is in fact 12 meters long and needed to incorporate 3 separate reception areas, a security shutter, glazed screens, column encasements and lit feature panels. Oh and it had to look like a boat!
From the start I became driven by the desire to really do something special for all these children that attend GOSH. You cannot attend this hospital without being impressed by the total commitment to care. Irrespective of race, colour, status or religion and despite the critical nature of what it is being faced by many children and parents, there is a palpable atmosphere of optimism that has an impact on one’s spirit. I believe that what we as a team – the contractor, the client, the architect and Receptek – have achieved creates an environment that captures this optimism.
